There are many volunteering opportunities in the BCP Council area, and we are grateful for the time and energy our volunteers invest in a diverse range of activities. Volunteering gives you the chance to help out your local community, make a difference to other people’s lives, and improve your mental and physical wellbeing.
You can read our Voluntary and Community Sector and Volunteering Strategy and our report on our year one delivery plans.
For volunteer roles within the local community, please visit the Community Action Network (CAN) website.
We have a community volunteering opportunities map, and you can also volunteer within BCP Council through:
- our parks and green spaces, including conservation, visitor centre and litter picking opportunities
- your local library, including Tech Buddies, home deliveries and teaching children to code
- our early help family hubs, including group support and admin support
- Highcliffe Castle, including costumed interpreter, family activity, tour guide and archive roles
- Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, including music, garden and creative events roles
- Poole Museums – a variety of roles will become available when the museums reopen following extensive redevelopment work
- New to You, our reclaimed items shop supporting disadvantaged local people
- Poole Community Transport Services, providing transport for people who find it difficult to travel
- Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service, where you can become a Panel Member, represent the community and support young people with their Referral Orders
- Poole Park Railway, helping to take park visitors on a leisurely trip around Poole Park
