Our Board of Directors & Ambassadors

Bill Perkins

President

Bill Perkins is currently the President of BCTC and the Insurance Institute of Bournemouth.

He is the Principal of Pine Lodge Independent Financial Advisers and prior to that had a career in retail with Woolworths, MFI, WH Smith and the Co-Op.

He was President in 2003 and 2007 and took the role of Treasurer for many years.

Matt Maclean

Vice-President

Matt Maclean is the Vice-President of BCTC and heads up the marketing, events and business development functions of the Chamber. He is also a Co-Founder of Digitize Marketing Ltd.

Born in Poole, Matt has spent the last 10 years honing his marketing skills working within a variety of different sectors. He joined the chamber as an Ambassador in December 2021 and subsequently became a Director soon after.

He lives in Wallisdown with his partner and dog, and enjoys football, F1 and playing pool both for local clubs and Dorset!

Roger Smith

Past President

Roger Smith became a Executive member in November 2013. Roger is a co-director with his two brothers in their fourth generation Funeral Directors business of W. Smith & Sons, established 1892 in Winton and Bournemouth. W. Smith & Sons is the town’s oldest family Funeral Directors.

Roger is the Honorary Secretary of the Bournemouth & District Association of Funeral Directors and their Representative as well as being past president.

Julia Young

Director

Julia is one of the chamber directors but is also acting a Chairperson for the Board. 

She has a extensive background in finance and previously owned an accountancy firm. She is now happily retired and helping the chamber in her spare time.

Simone Ippolito

Director

Simone is an ex professional basketball player, originally from Italy, currently living in Bournemouth. He loves sports and music, and taking time to travel the world.
Outside of Chamber, Simone works for Appius in the Digital Marketing Sector, and also has his own business importing his family wine from Italy with Liam.

Simone feels the Chamber gives him the chance to give back to less fortunate people. He believes the Chamber can truly make a significant difference to people’s lives, and wants it to be very active in the local community and supporting local businesses.

Kate Neal

Business Development Executive

Kate’s background for the last 40 years was in Taxation and she took early retirement from a local firm of Accountants in March 2023 and joined the Chamber shortly after. Her role within the Chamber is Memberships and Events and she is predominately focused on growing Chamber Membership as well as helping to organise Events and supporting the Marketing team.

In her spare time, Kate enjoys travelling and having fun times with her family.

Tina Worthing

Ambassador

Tina joined the Chamber in November 2022, and became an ambassador in November 2023. Originally from Manchester she has lived in the Bournemouth area for 37 years. 

After 30+ years working in local government she established her own management training business – Aventina Training – in September 2022.

Lorraine Exley

Secretary

Lorraine comes to us with a background of working for Business Link helping SMEs in the local area until they ceased in 2011. More recently she works for one of the south’s leading legal firms as a Legal Secretary.

Outside of work she enjoys reading, beading, and occasionally playing pool. She also loves to holiday in Goa over Christmas & New Year
