The Townsend Youth Partnership has been awarded £19,880 from the National Lottery’s Community Fund, enabling it to expand and strengthen its work with young people on the Townsend estate in Bournemouth.
The partnership provides a safe, inclusive environment where young people can access support, structure and positive role models. Through its youth clubs and targeted interventions, the Partnership reduces anti-social behaviour, boosts confidence and inspires ambition among children and teenagers.
Its youth clubs support young people aged 5–18 (up to 25 with a disability), on the Townsend estate in Bournemouth.
Each week, more than 100 young people aged 5–18 (up to 25 for those with disabilities) benefit from consistent support, trusted adults and fresh opportunities to learn and grow.
Marie, the Partnership’s Youth Development Coordinator, said:
“Young people consistently tell us that our sessions reduce their isolation, help them build confidence and give them a sense of purpose. Simply having somewhere safe to hang out with friends has made a meaningful difference in their lives.
We’ve also recently launched a Youth Forum, giving young people a direct say in our programmes and activities. This ensures our work remains responsive and inclusive, while also building ownership and accountability between young people and our senior staff.
We are so grateful to the National Lottery for believing in what we do and providing the funding to develop our work further.”
The funding boost will help the Townsend Youth Partnership to continue supporting young people in Bournemouth. By giving them a safe space, opportunities to take part in positive activities and trusted relationships with adults, the project helps shape stronger futures for the community’s young people.
