Bournemouth Chamber MEMBERS visited ‘The Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum’ in September, when East Cliff Hall and Sub Tropical Gardens were bathed in late-Summer sunshine and warming sea breezes.
Most of the bctc Board enjoyed a most informative ‘Private View’ of Bournemouth’s “Jewel”.
The priceless Art Collection alone could hold its own in an City. The house itself is a Late-Victorian Masterpiece capturing 360° of Bournemouth sunshine whilst a matter of yards from the spakling Bournemouth bay.
It was an evening of inspiration as Ruaidhry O’Mahony gave us a detailed and gripping historical dissertation of Sir Merton and Lady Annie Russell-Cotes’ global quest for artefacts and curios to frame their enviable collection of renowned paintings, some of considerable size !
Always worth a visit, to preserve this magical ‘other place in time’ (where Ken Russel filmed some of his movie “Valentino” featuring world famous ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev) needs visitors, donors and Patrons to preserve and improve this vital cultural exposition and edifice.
It’s easy to find, get to Bournemouth Pier and look East and look up !
