Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth's national dance house, has introduced some fantastic new classes, designed to help all ages get fit and active in the New Year and beyond. It’s the perfect time to make your resolutions and try something new, and with 40 classes catering for all ages and abilities to choose from there’s no excuse not to stick to it!
Brand new classes for this term cover all age ranges, from OAP – Older And Perfect, a gentle exercise class for the
young at heart on Fridays at 2.45pm right down to Mini Ballet for the under fives on Wednesday at 10.30am. This is a fun and creative addition to the already very popular mini classes.
There’s also more for experienced dancers, with new advanced classes in Contemporary on Tuesdays at 8.30pm and Ballet on Wednesdays at 6pm. New styles include Burlesque on Fridays at 8.30pm, where you can learn to pose like a pin-up and perform like a professional, or for something more upbeat you can keep the party season alive at Caribbean Carnival on Tuesdays at 8.30pm.
Younger Dancers aged 9-15 can learn new skills in Diving, Flying, Catching on Thursdays at 4.45pm, a dynamic movement class that includes partner work in lifting, carrying and catching and is a great full body work-out.
Learn to stomp, stamp and use your body as a human drum in Hip-hop Stomp on Tuesdays at 6pm, or if you are aiming for fitness and flexibility, Martial Movement on Thursdays at 6pm uses the training methods of diverse martial arts, such as T'ai Chi, Kung Fu, Aikido and Capoeira.
The packed Spring Class programme also sees the return of some old favourites, such as 40+ Fit on Tuesdays at 6pm, which involves feel-good movement to music you know, to a range of adult Tap classes on Mondays and Fridays for all abilities, from beginners to those with experience.
This term's classes run from 7 January - 28 March 2013. Classes cost from £2.50 for mini classes to £5 for drop-in classes, with several cost-effective passport options. Classes can be booked on the day or in advance (recommended) on a week-by-week basis, so you don't need to commit to a full term.
